Matthew 24:19

19 But woe to those women who are pregnant, and to those who are nursing babies in those days!

This verse is part of a larger passage in Matthew 19 that starts with Jesus warning about the appearance of the Abomination of Desolation in verse 15 of this chapter, after which he warns people that when this appears it is time for people to stop whatever they are doing and flee. I have been thinking about verse 19 for the last couple of days because so many of the changes that are going on in these last days that are affecting women and girls.

Luke 21:25-28

25 “There will be signs in the sun and moon and stars, and on the earth distress among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 people fainting from fear and the expectation of the things that are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 27 And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.”

In these verses Jesus is describing what is to come in the end times. He describes his return as a truly awe-inspiring event, which is why he warns us in Matthew 24:26 not to believe it if people begin to describe the appearance of a Messiah here or there on earth, because his return will be otherwordly and unmistakable, and there will be no confusion about what is taking place.
