Philippians 2:9-11

9 For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

I really love this set of verses; it points the reader forward to a time when the entire world will be united under the worship and guidance of Jesus Christ. I had some very impactful experiences with Christ when I was in addiction and I love reading the experiences of other people who have as well, that's why I started compiling these experiences onto my blog called "Jesus is Real"I love watching these videos to see how other people's experiences of interacting with Jesus Christ line up with mine and how they differ.I found that it is quite common for Christ to appear to people who are desperately suffering while in addiction to drugs and/or alcohol and to beckon them to follow his teachings and accept Salvation from him.

When I read verses ten and eleven above it reminds me how overwhelmed with love I felt being in the presence of Christ and the incredible safety we have in the presence of his sheltering compassion. As over-awing as that was, it was also a testimony to verse ten especially in that while this was happening my legs were shaking like jello; I had to lean against the doorframe in my hallway because my whole being was overwhelmed by the glory of his presence. I felt was if I could not hold myself up and that my legs would collapse at any minute.

I really love this essay from Patheos by Keith Giles that talks about how the verb used in the translation of the phrase 'every knee will bow' leaves out the complete meaning of the word, which according to Giles suggests a very joyful and willing submission to the authority of Christ. Giles tells us, at the end of this article that covers several different verses: "The word for 'confess' used here in the Greek is: exomologeō . This word is translated as: “to acknowledge openly and joyfully”".

While I don't agree with all of Gile's conclusions and I take literally the admonitions in the Bible about damnation, it is more relative to my experience and that of others that anyone in the presence of Christ will gladly fall down and worship without any resistance, because Jesus radiates such overwhelming love and compassion that it overwhelms our human souls with joy.
