"There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever."
This is one of the prophecies given to Daniel about the Great Tribulation; unlike the other more contemporaneous prophecy in this book of the Bible, Daniel is told about this one that it won't be fulfilled until the end of time, and Daniel is instructed to 'roll up the scroll and keep it secret'. Just like verses in both the Gospels and Revelation, we are warned about a period of great distress to come, unlike any seen on the earth up to this point, and according to Christ's promise in Revelation, unlike any that will ever come again. This is a refrain that echoes over and over again in the Old and New Testaments, and you don't have to pay much attention to the news to realize that these things are continuing to come to pass.
